There are some parts of the gun where the bluing has worn off but not as bad as I first thought it would be. I was thinking this before I started to clean it. I was thinking of getting some new grips for it plus taking the bluing off and having it nickel plated. The rubber grips have a nick on the bottom of one side of the grips. It has the serial number stamped on the bottom of the butt end and underneath the lip of the barrel lock, and under the grips on the butt end of the revolver, the serial number is 224 043. USA" and on the side of the barrel it says "38 CAL S&W CTGE". On the top of the barrel it says: "Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. I'm looking for information as to when it was first made? Also if it was made to shoot Black Powder or a. Before I put it in the oil to soak it was hard to read the imprints on the gun. It looks like it would be a good gun to shoot plus being fun to shoot too. ![]() That's okay because I'm not interested in it for the resale value. I know that they made a lot of these models and the value isn't really there. Then I went through it with some "Hoppes" gun cleaner as well as "Break-Free Cleaner and De greaser". I broke it apart and let it soak in gun oil for a few days. When I first got the gun it was real dirty, rusty and had some minor pitting that was just starting to appear. So here I am asking for some information about it. I wanted to make a complete new thread with pictures of my revolver.
